Music: Ólafur Arnalds

So I was browsing vimeo.com and stumbled across a video animation that looked pretty interesting. After the first couple seconds, I realized that the music was much more compelling than the actual video, and the creator was kind enough to provide the link for Ólafur Arnalds, the composer.

The latest album of Ólafur Arnalds is called “Found Songs”. It includes just 7 tracks that are minimalistic piano/ensemble pieces. They are surprisingly compelling and really good mood music. He actually opened for fellow Icelandic group Sigur Rós in a recent European tour, and so it really goes to show how much talent he has as an artist.

Anyway, you can check out his page here. You can either purchase his album through the online store he has or you can download “low-resolution” mp3’s directly on the page. I recommend just downloading the mp3’s since they’re actually at a higher-than-average rate of 192kbps and 44khz, so there’s no need to purchase the album unless you want to take a step further in supporting him or want a CD quality file. Below I’ve linked to my favorite song of the lot, Ljósið.
